Expensive hardwoods such as mahogany, ebony, walnut and rosewood grow in Mexico as do oak, pine, fir and the cacao tree whose nuts form the basis of making chocolates. There are over thirty thousand flowering shrubs and plants including frangipani, magnolia, bougainvillea, orchids, etc., growing in Mexico. If you associate Mexico with the cactus plant, it might interest you to note that The Aztec city of Tenochtitian, on whose soil Mexico City stands, derives its name from the "tenochtli" - the prickly pear cactus.
Most of the Roman Catholic population of Mexico speak Spanish although many Amerindian languages are spoken.
