Colombia

Colombia is also a country of exotic fruits. Of course, the Colombian coffee is world famous. Carbonated drinks, local wine and rum are also popular through out the country.

It was in the 1530s that the Spanish established Santa Fe de Bogota or Bogota of the present day. Spanish rule lasted for almost three hundred years until liberation by Simon de Bolivar (1819). Following independence from Spain, the Republic of Gran Colombia was formed by Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and Venezuela. Colombia is known through out the world for its coffee. Other agricultural products include bananas, maize, rice, sugarcane, cocoa beans, oilseed, vegetables, tobacco and flowers.
