Agriculture products include rice, corn, sugarcane, bananas, coconuts, mangoes, pineapples, eggs, pork and beef.
The main industries of the Philippines are petroleum refining, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, electronics assembly, furniture, textiles, food processing and fishing.
Filipino and English are both official languages of the Philippines. There are many local dialects which are also spoken. Most people are Christians.
Cuisine in the Philippines is influenced by the Spanish and the Chinese. Dishes made with rice and noodles are popular. The peculiarity of a Filipino cuisine is that meat and fish can be combined in a single dish. Ingredients such as coconut milk, tomatoes, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, tamarind and vinegar are often used in recipes.
Fruit juices are available and green lemons are used to make drinks. Beer and rum are produced locally.
While basketball is the most popular team game in the Philippines, baseball and soccer are also played. Other sports include tennis, jai alai, kali (a martial art), boxing and athletics. The coastal waters provide plenty of opportunities for water sports such as scuba diving and sailing.
